Area Code 671 - Hagatna, Guam

Where Is Area Code 671?

Area code 671 serves all of Guam, a U.S. territory in Micronesia in the western Pacific Ocean. Guam is the southernmost and largest island in the Mariana Islands, south of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and east of the Philippines. The island has about 211 square miles of land.

Hagåtña, also spelled Hagatna, is Guam’s capital and the primary city associated with 671. The code covers Guam’s 19 villages, including Dededo, Tamuning, Mangilao, and Santa Rita-Sumai. Guam has villages rather than counties, so the area code does not divide the island along county lines.

Guam’s northern half includes a limestone plateau, while volcanic hills rise in the south. Apra Harbor, on the west coast, is the island’s principal deepwater port. Tumon Bay and Two Lovers Point are notable features of the northwest coast, and War in the Pacific National Historical Park preserves World War II sites on Guam.

History of Area Code 671

Guam adopted 671 as its North American Numbering Plan (NANP) area code on July 1, 1997. Before that date, +671 served as Guam’s international country calling code. The change placed Guam within the numbering system used by the United States and other NANP members.

Guam has not had an area-code split or overlay, and 671 remains its only area code. The code covers the capital, military installations, commercial centers, and villages across the island, rather than separate geographic zones. In NANP format, 671 is the three-digit area-code prefix in a ten-digit telephone number.

Got a missed call from 671?

Our directory lists 671 for Hagatna, Guam, but an area code alone cannot establish who is calling. Scammers can fake caller ID to match the first six digits of the number they are dialing, a trick called neighbor spoofing, so a familiar-looking code proves nothing about who is really calling.

If you were not expecting the call, let it go to voicemail. Verify the caller through a trusted contact method before returning the call, and never share personal details with an unverified caller.

Worth knowing: an area code no longer tells you where someone is. Mobile numbers keep their original code when people move, so a 671 number may belong to someone who left Guam years ago.

Frequently asked questions about 671
